Course Overview
Increasingly, companies are using large datasets that have been generated by business activities and social media to uncover trends and insights that can be used to tailor products and services, anticipate demand, improve performance, or contribute to solving complex social, health and science-related problems. Equip yourself with the analytical skills needed to work with big data. This course is taught with a computational focus that combines information technology with mathematics and statistics. The course is designed for information technology graduates and people working in information technology-related fields and provides the knowledge and skills IT professionals need to work with big data.
Entry Requirements
Recognised Australian Computer Society (ACS) -accredited Bachelor's degree in IT (AQF Level 7); OR recognised Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) plus an approved qualification in IT (AQF Level 8); OR recognised Bachelor's degree(AQF Level 7) plus two years of relevant IT experience; OR recognised Honours degree (AQF Level 8) plus relevant IT experience. Recognition of relevant and current informal or non-formal learning may be used for entry requirements, and should be discussed with the Academic Chair. Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) - No band below 169. Pearson Test of English (PTE) - No band below 50. Occupational English Test (OET) - OET with a minimum of C (250-290) in each of the four components. Internet-based Phoenix English Proficiency Test (iPEPT) Higher Ed (entry into semester 2 2020 and semester 1 2021 only - Overall Grade of B+ with no band below B2+.
