Overview

Victoria University (VU) is the university of the west. Victoria University achieved university status in 1991, but our preceding institutions date back to 1916. We are one of Australia's few dual-sector universities. Today, we have over 40,000 enrolled higher education, and vocational education and training students studying on our campuses. VU has received the following rankings: ranked in the world's top 2% (Times Higher Education THE World University Rankings 2018, 2019 and 2020) ranked 45 in the world's top universities aged under 50 (THE Young University Rankings 2019) ranked number one in Australia for employability (2020 QILT Employer Satisfaction Survey). As one of 39 public universities in Australia, graduates can be assured their qualification from VU is being awarded from a university operating in a world-class education system. Being a dual-sector university means that our students can easily pathway from vocational education to higher education such as from a certificate or diploma course through to an undergraduate degree or even a postgraduate qualification by coursework or research.

Scholarships

1. VU FUTURE LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP (INTERNATIONAL) - Value (2021 commencement): 20% off the first two semesters' tuition fee. Upon successful completion of two semesters, students will be assessed for an extension of the scholarship based on academic performance. This is valued at 10% off the tuition fee per semester for the remainder of their studies. 2. VU GLOBAL LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP :- 20% tuition fee reduction for the entire standard duration of eligible courses (calculated from the date of commencement to the course end date in the letter of offer). Eligibility: New students commencing a higher education diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) course with VU Melbourne are eligible, including students commencing their studies by online real-time (ORT) learning from outside of Australia. 3. VU DIPLOMATIC SCHOLARSHIP :- VU recognises the benefit of having members of the diplomatic community as its students. Value: 10% tuition fee discount Eligibility: Consular Corps and their immediate families on 995 visas who do not hold a higher qualification than the one applied for, and are not New Zealand citizens. 4. AUSTRALIA AWARDS FELLOWSHIPS :- Australia Awards fellowships are administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). These fellowships provide opportunities for fellows to undertake short-term study and professional development in Australia. Study level: short-term study and professional development. 5. AUSTRALIA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS :- Australia Awards scholarships are long-term development awards, offered by the Australian Government and administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). They aim to contribute to the long-term development needs of Australia's partner countries. 6. Accommodation

On Campus : Victoria University is pleased to offer guaranteed accommodation to new and continuing full-time domestic and international students. This offer is in partnership with UniLodge, our accommodation provider. UniLodge has accommodation in: Footscray (right opposite to our Footscray Park Campus and close to our Footscray Nicholson Campus) Melbourne CBD (close to our city campuses) many other locations across Melbourne. Off Campus : Here we outline the accommodation options, and support services for finding a home. Homestays - placement with a local hosts, in private homes. Private rentals (vacant properties) - houses, flats, units, self-contained bungalows and apartments, usually unfurnished. Student apartments - furnished apartment or studio apartment, often with common facilities and recreation services. UniLodge Victoria University(external link) is our modern fully-furnished student accommodation across the road from Footscray Park Campus. Share house - Room in a house with shared use of household facilities. Short-stay accommodation - Hotels, hostels and private rooms give you somewhere to stay while you look for longer-term options. Emergency and crisis housing - Should you find yourself at risk of homelessness, emergency support is available.

Airport Pickup

When you first arrive in Melbourne (Australia) as an international student, we can welcome you at the airport and take you to your accommodation. This free service is available when you complete our airport reception form for yourself and any travel companions 10 days before you arrive in Melbourne. You will be greeted in the arrivals hall of Melbourne Airport. Your driver will hold a sign that reads 'TOGOTO AUSTRALIA - OVERSEAS STUDENT.'
